Transnistrian side not willing to accept OSCE monitoring

The Moldovan side’s proposal to allow the OSCE to monitor the law-enforcement bodies in the Security Zone was rejected by the Transnistrian side at the sitting of July 23 of the Joint Control Commission (JCC). The topic has been postponed for the next sitting, Info-Prim Neo learns from the Moldovan Defense Ministry. The Moldovan delegation demanded explanations from the Transnistrian side as to illegal arrest of three Moldovan policemen by Transnistrians on July 22. According to the Moldovan delegation, arresting the policemen was done by breaching decision 152 of the JCC, which stipulates that in case of arresting an employee of the law enforcement bodies of a party in the security zone, the military commander and the military observers have to be notified immediately, in order to go and certify the incident. The Moldovan delegation demands the Transnistrian side to s et free three policemen arrested on July 14 by the Transnistrian security forces. The Transnistrian delegation accepted the request of the Moldovan side, but insisted not to report the incident in the JCC protocol, reads the communiqué. At the same sitting, the JCC endorsed the plan proposed by the Joint Military Commandment on celebrating 17 years since the start of the peace-keeping operation in the Security Zone.
