The Transnistrian side refuses to contribute to stabilizing the situation in the Security Zone, the Moldovan delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) says in a communiqué issued on March 2, when it is celebrated 20 years of the start of the armed conflict on the Nistru, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the March 1 meeting of the JCC, the delegations of Russia and Ukraine and the OSCE Mission to Moldova launched a common appeal to the Transnistrian delegation, asking that tension be prevented in the Security Zone on March 2, when activities to commemorate the victims of the war are held. “When the given subject was examined, the Transnistrian delegation adopted an unconstructive approach, ignoring the common appeal,” reads the communiqué. Moldova’s delegation to the JCC said the military observers and command should be present in Corjova village on this day. Valeriu Mitul, a war veteran and ex-mayor of Corjova, said that in the morning Cossacks tried to intimidate the locals into not taking part the traditional Peace March held in the village. “The village is full of special cars for transporting detainees, firefighting vehicles and ambulances and this is without precedent,” stated Valeriu Mitul. Promo-Lex Association announced that early in the morning a large number of vehicles blocked the main intersections in Corjova. Civilians with flags of the breakaway republic have mounted a protest in order to intimidate and provoke the residents.
