Exports from the Transnistrian region to the European Union member states saw a significant increase in 2024. According to the Bureau for Reintegration Policies, these exports represented 83% of the region's total exports, IPN reports.

Among the main destinations of Transnistrian economic agents’ exports were Romania, Poland, Italy, Germany, and the Czech Republic.

At the same time, imports from the EU to the Transnistrian region accounted for 54%, which is half of the total imports.

According to the Bureau, this trend reflects the strengthening of the region's trade relations with European markets and the deeper economic connection to the rules of the single market.

The performance during the last almost three years of all foreign trade transactions through the checkpoints monitored by the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova and also based on permissive documents of national model produced a substantial impact for the even more active economic reintegration of the region, noted the quoted source.

According to the Bureau, economic indicators show that, despite geopolitical and security challenges, the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova remains oriented towards the European Union as its main trading partner.
