Transnistrian region faces shortage of health care workers

A shortage of health professionals is experienced in the Transnistrian region, namely of therapists, pediatricians, emergency services doctors and other specialists. The subject was discussed in a meeting with representatives of the Transnistrian administration. Among the key reasons for such a situation, the so-called head of the local executive Alexandr Martynov enumerated the lack of housing and of an efficient professional development system and of a strategy for developing the health system, IPN reports.

The local press reported that the bonus to the salary provided to doctors is to be raised as of September 1. In particular, this refers to the personnel of emergency medical services. In 2019, the period of paid leave for this category of personnel will be extended. As of next year, the young health professionals will be provided again with dwellings, while the ministry in charge is to work out a program to stimulate these.

In 2019, the Transnistrian administration plans to allocate about 100 million Transnistrian rubles for reconstructing hospitals. Five ambulances will be bought for the emergency medical services that need a total of 30 ambulances.
