Transnistrian Refugees Movement of Moldova (MRT) intends to run protests in front of the Capital’s City Hall, the Parliament, the Government and the Embassy of the Russian Federation. MRT chairman Anatol Bazgu announced about this on a Monday press conference. The refugees will protest against the authorities that delay the solving of their dwelling issues. According to Bazgu, the last week, MRT submitted the request to organize the protest meeting on 22 June, but the refugees do not exclude the possibility of protesting non-stop. According to him, MRT representatives will protest against excluding out of the refugees to obtain a home list of the persons who privatized apartments, got plots and later sold them. Bazgu underlined that excluding these persons out of the lists the municipality violates legislation. On the other hand, the local authorities noted that they complied with the legislation, stipulating that the refugees who got plots and preferential credits for building houses do not have anymore the right to claim an apartments. According to MRT chairman, the plots provided by the authorities do not represent an improvement of their living conditions. „Why does the mayoralty provided previously dwelling to a high-ranking public servant who have had an apartment and a plot, and sold both of them, and cannot do the same thing in the case of refugees?”, Bazgu is wondering. He also mentioned that he does not know exactly the number of persons who obtained apartments, as he dealt with cases when certain refugees were officially included in the list of persons already benefiting of apartments, without knowing this thing, and these apartments were actually rented. The refugees are dissatisfied with the fact that the mayoralty delays to renew the list of refugees who need a place to live. They allege that certain public servants elude them because they do not want to register their applications. According to the list approved by Chisinau Municipal Council, about 150 Transnistrian refugees stay in line for apartments.
