The Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk said that the limited access to the EU market will be very painful for the economy of the Transnistrian region, if the interests of Tiraspol are not taken into account when creating the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between Moldova and the EU, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Agency “Novyi Reghion” quoted Yevgeny Shevchuk as saying in a speech to the people that if the Transnistrian companies do not have access to the EU market, the region will have to orient itself to other markets. The Transnistrian leader stressed he was for putting the Russian ruble into circulation in the region as the companies’ activity will be thus improved and the losses when exchanging currencies will be avoided. The last round of talks on the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU took place in Brussels on March 15. Within the talks, there were discussed the results of the negotiations on the creation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area. The European officials said that all the Moldovans, including those living in the eastern districts of the country, should benefit from the agreement. The central authorities earlier said that a representative of Tiraspol is taking part in the talks on the DCFTA.
