Transnistrian functionaries to respond to inquiries in reasonable timeframe

The penalties for hampering the activity of local deputies of all levels, for providing incomplete and inaccurate answers to their inquiries and for obstructing the dissemination by these of socially important information were made harsher in the Transnistrian region. An initiative to make relevant amendments to the penal and administrative codes of Transnistria was signed by the Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselski, IPN reports.

For the refusal to give an answer, for a late response to requests made by local deputies or for an evasive answer, the penalty for persons holding responsible posts will be a fine of 920-1,840 Transnistrian rubles ($1=11.3 Transnistrian ruble). For hindering local MPs of all the levels from disseminating the information they possesses, the persons holding responsible posts will pay a fine of 1,840 to 3,680 Transnistrian rubles, while legal entities of 3,680 to 7,360 Transnistrian rubles.

The amendments to the Transnistrian penal code refer to the avoidance of providing information, provision of incomplete or false information, breaking of deadlines for furnishing information to the supreme Transnistrian administrative bodies, if the violations are committed repeatedly. The penalty will be a fine of 12,880 to 31,280 Transnistrian rubles, with ban on holding particular posts or carrying out a particular professional activity for a period of two to five years or up to three years in jail.

The amendments take effect on January 20, 2017. It should be noted that the average salary of a budget-funded Transnistrian employee in January-March this year will be 1,527 Transnistrian rubles.
