Transnistria’s delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) proposed establishing another three peacekeeping posts, two of which near Pohrebea village and one near the Dybasari hydroelectric plan. But the other delegations to the Commission did not back the proposal. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the representative of Moldova’s delegation to the JCC Ion Leahu said this request is an aberration. According to him, the Transnistrian side continues to have an obstructionist position. The Transnistrians ignored the proposals to reach compromise solutions and avoid worsening the situation in the region, submitted by the representatives of Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE Mission, which are involved in the peacekeeping operation. Russia’s representatives warned the Transnistrian side about the impossibility of taking a constructive decision and ensuring stability in the Security Zone given that the rights and powers of the other delegations to the JCC are neglected. But this warning did not make the Transnistrian side change its position, says a communiqué from the Moldovan delegation to the Commission. In the created situation, the Moldovan delegation issued a statement about the necessity of assessing the ability of the JCC to adopt decisions aimed at solving the given problem, improving the existing peacekeeping mechanism and adjusting it to the international norms. The next meeting of the JCC will take place on November 15.
