The Transnistrian dispute wasn't discussed at the meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council held in Chisinau on Thursday. Moldova's Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca told the reporters that the CIS Heads of State Council on Friday will not address this issue either, Info-Prim Neo reports. Speaking about this issue, the Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev stressed that the problem was not discussed, but Russia's foreign minister at the meeting in restricted format declared that the CIS foreign ministers and heads of state will provide maximum support in solving firstly the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh and secondly the Transnistrian dispute. “The foreign ministers confirmed their readiness to assist the authorities of these countries in identifying equitable and immediate solutions to the two conflicts,” Lebedev said. Asked what he thought about the Kozak Memorandum, Leanca said that it is already outdated and that the Moldovan authorities should try to find new solutions to the Transnistrian dispute at talks in the existent 5+2 format. At the summit, Moldova will pass on the presidency of the CIS to Russia. Russia will hold the CIS presidency from January 1, 2010. The next CIS Foreign Ministers Council will take place in Moscow in March next year.
