The Transnistrian dispute must be resolved by peaceful ways and dialogue, President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti said in an interview for Radio Chisinau, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Nicolae Timofti stressed that the talks must be held in the 5+2 format and that he was ready to sit at the negotiating table with all those on whom the settlement of the conflict depends. He underlined the necessity of establishing communication and building confidence between the people living on the two sides of the Nistru River. “I see no other way than the peaceful one. We must convince the people living on the two banks that we should live in peace and build bridges so as to move freely in both directions and restore trust in each other as we are one people and must build our future together,” said the head of state. The 5+2 format talks include representatives of the conflicting sides, the mediators and observers to the negotiating process: Moldova, Transnistria, the OSCE, Russia, Ukraine, the U.S. and the EU. The last round of talks in the 5+2 format was held in Dublin at the end of February.
