Additional control will be carried out in the Transnistrian region over the spending of funds accumulated by housing companies as payments for housing services from the population. The reported abusive use of the collected funds was discussed in a meeting of the legislative committee for regional policy of Transnistria, IPN reports.
“The performance of control over the reasonable use of funds and stating of the identified violations will be the duties of the Audit Office,” said the committee’s head, deputy Oleg Vasilatii. He underlined the necessity of creating a system for monitoring the spending of funds on housing maintenance and public services.
Currently, the housing companies spend the collected money as they want. Cases of unjustified spending are often reported, but no liability is envisioned for such acts. The current legislation of Transnistria does not specify clear criteria for determining the reasonableness of the spending by these companies.
The local deputies adopted in the second reading a series of amendments whereby the housing companies are obliged to sign contracts for the management of multistory apartment buildings and to bear administrative liability.
If violations are identified, the housing companies will be fined 1,840 Transnistrian rubles ($ 163) to 11,400 rubles ($ 977).
