The Transnistria authorities have allocated 80 million rubles (112,6 million lei) from the region's budget for replacing and repairing the electric power lines and 20 million rubles (28.1 million lei) for changing the electricity meters. 2 million rubles (2.8 million lei) o this sum will be allotted to Tiraspol town, Info-Prim Neo's correspondent in Tiraspol reports. Victor Kostyrko, the head of the Tiraspol administration, said that 20 km of the 77 km of power networks are in a rather bad state. 13% of the 75 km of overhead power lines must be replaced. Viktor Orlov, the head of the State Energy Policy Department, said that if the power lines are replaced the losses in the system will decrease to under 2%. The thefts of power will be prevented. In 2006, there was adopted a law aimed at saving energy. Under the law, all the incandescent lamps must be replaced with energy saving lamps during three years. The works to replace the lamps in the four districts of Tiraspol will be finalized in December. The energy saving lamps are by 30% more expensive, but they are serviceable ten times longer, Victor Orlov said.
