The volume of goods exported from the Transnistrian region in 2006 stood at over MDL 5 bln, which is 68.7% of the volume exported in 2005, data provided by the Ministry of Reintegration of Moldova show. The goods from the breakaway region were exported to over 42 countries of the world, of which 16 are EU countries.
The volume of goods produced by Transnistrian companies, verified by the Customs Service of Moldova during March 1 – December 31, 2006 made up about MDL 4.8 bln, including exports – about MDL 4.1 bln, and imports – MDL 750.4 mln.
Authorities of Moldova consider that the volume of the goods exported from the Transnistrian region is to a great extent due to the foreign economic activity of the Metallurgical Moldovan Works. After exports of the goods pertaining to the metallurgy of iron and steel were resumed in June 2006, the weekly exported volume has tripled – from MDL 45 mln to MDL 157 mln.
As of December 31, 269 Transnistrian companies were registered with the State Registration Chamber of Moldova, including temporary registration with IDNO code – 153, and permanent registration – 116 companies.
At the same time, 61 companies requested origin certificates for their goods. From February 13 to December 31, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry issued 3812 origin certificates for the exports of goods, 80% of which belong to 6 companies – “Tirotex”, “Vestra”, “Intercentru-lux”, “Metallurgical Moldovan Works”, “Tiraspol Electric Equipment Factory” and “Electromash”.
The Customs Service has issued 607 origin certificates to the Transnistrian companies on July 1 trough December 31. They have permanent registration with the Chamber of State Registration to trade with EU countries.
From March 1 to December 31, the Chamber of State Authorisation issued 13 licences for different types of activity to the companies registered according to the legislation and the Service for Standards and Metrology of Moldova issued 18 conformity certificates to the companies located in the Transnistrian region.
