Vadim Krasnoselski, the de facto leader of Transnistria, has called on the Moldovan leadership “not to fall for provocations and not let Moldova be drawn into aggression against Transnistria”. According to Krasnoselski, preliminary investigations showed that “traces of the terrorist attacks that happened in recent days point to Ukraine”.
Vadim Krasnoselski noted that Transnistria was eager to declare its neutrality as the war broke out in Ukraine two months ago and that it has never planned any attacks on its “neighbors”. It has granted shelter to about 25,000 Ukrainian refugees, too.
“I guess that those who orchestrated this assault aim to draw Transnistria into a conflict. But trust me, they will not succeed. Transnistria will be able to defend itself. We will definitely find everybody involved in these criminal acts, but we will not let ourselves be drawn into conflict”, declared Krasnoselski.
Tiraspol has called on the Ukrainian leadership to investigate the “illegal movement” of militant groups and the perpetration of terrorist attacks in Transnistria. Addressing the Moldovan leadership, Vadim Krasnoselski said that no aggression should be allowed that could provoke a major war. He also called on the residents of the region to keep calm and get information only from reliable sources.
Transnistria reported a number of bomb scares in the past few weeks targeting public buildings. On Monday evening, a series of explosions hit the building of the breakaway republic’s so-called ministry of security. Two other blasts occurred this morning in Grigoriopol, affecting radio broadcasting from Russia. No casualties or injured were reported.
