The first elevators made in Transnistria will be put in commission in the region in two years. Works to assemble elevator cages and doors will start this year. According to local specialists, the region has industrial potential to make its own elevators, Info-Prin Neo's correspondent in Tiraspol reports. The problem of elevators in the Transnistrian region is rather acute. The municipal company Tiraslift manages 690 elevators. Most of them have their 25-year working life expired. Only one elevator was taken out of use in Tiraspol. The working life of another seven elevators was extended by summer. Valentin Reshetnikov, the head of Tiraslift's electrotechnical laboratory, said that despite difficulties in 2009 they managed to connect the elevators in Tiraspol to the dispatcher's service so that the nonfunctional machines are identified immediately. In the neighboring countries, such a service is provided only in Ukraine, in the large towns, Reshetnikov said.
