The Faculty of Medicine of the Tiraspol State University this year will be graduated by 59 students. However, the medical institutions of the Transnistrian region experience a shortage of over 200 medical workers, IPN reports.
According to the publication “Novyi Reghion”, the University’s pro-rector Natalia Kunichenko said the graduates were distributed among the medical institutions needing personnel, even those who studied on a contract basis. “The young specialists were distributed not only according to their will, but also according to the needs,” stated the pro-rector.
Rostislav Ocushko, dean of the Faculty of Medicine, said that one of the causes of the insufficiency of staff is the mass exodus of young specialists abroad. “Every year, we are informed that our graduates go abroad, after doing the three years of obligatory work,” he said.
This year, 9 of the 59 graduates chose the field of neurology. Among the graduates, there are specialists in pediatrics, surgery, general medicine and other spheres. The young people are to receive the diplomas.
