Transactions with plots that became property of Voronin family caused damage of over 100m lei to Chisinau budget, Dorin Chirtoaca

According to the cadaster documents, the luxurious buildings erected there belong to the members of the family of the former President Vladimir Voronin – his son Oleg Voronin, his nephew Alexei Voronin, his daughter Valentina Rusu, and to companies they own. The plot located on Ciocarliei St is not the only one that had been bought by the Voronin family illegally, the mayor said. Since 1999 until 2006, the companies that belong to the Voronin family acquired free of charge or at derisory prices 4 hectares of land in the most expensive area of Chisinau, near Valea Morilor Park. A huge building is now erected there, on an area of 1.3 hectares. Under the General Urban Plan, a street was to be built on that plot. Dorin Chirtoaca stressed that an internal inquiry was launched to identify those who authorized the modification of the plan. The mayor said the given transactions caused damage to the Chisinau budget assessed at over 100 million lei, or about US$10 million He asked the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime to investigate them.
