Transactions in currency market top USD 400 mln

The internal currency market has registered in September a slight increase in turnover, reaching USD 402.53 mln, in comparison to USD 390.5 mln in August. The daily turnover constituted 19.16 mln.
In September, transactions in USD have recorded, as usually, the largest share in the currency market – 69.73%. Though, the American currency lost 1.6 p.p. compared with August.
At the same time, the European single currency succeeded to gain extra 1.15 p.p., reaching 24.69 per cent of the market; the Russian ruble has made it to 4.27 per cent. The rest of the transacted currencies did not exceed figures above 1 per cent.
The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) made its presence in the currency market as well, purchasing in September over USD 9 mln.
In August, BNM’s purchases totaled to USD 5 mln. These funds are specifically intended to complete the foreign exchange reserves, which amounted at the beginning of October to circa USD 659 mln.
