Stefanel Roscovan, the son of the composer Anatol Roscovan achieved remarkable success at the Camena National Festival, which took place in Piatra Neamt, Romania. He won the first prize in the 9-11 age category, and a range of special prizes: the one awarded by Mihai Traistariu, the prize for the best interpretation of a patriotic song, the prize for the best appearance and the Minimister prize, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The most important prize for me is the one awarded by Mihai Traistariu. He is a great Romanian performer with a special voice, and I’d like to sing like him”, Stefanel Roscovan says. The Mihai Traistariu prize implies the participation with the artist in a TV show. It is being awarded in every contest where Mihai Traistariu is member of the jury. Stefanel is the first Moldovan performer to achieve this prize. Mihai Traistariu told Info-Prim Neo that he knows Stefanel since his participation in the Romanian contest “Vreau sa fiu vedeta” (“I Want to Be a Star”). “Back then I appreciated his talent. In this festival he made half of the audience and myself cry. He is amazing. In his interpretation, Fredy Mercury’s “Show must go one” sounded incredibly new and dignified, deserving an important prize. I felt an urge to help him, so I awarded him my prize. And because he had very good competitors, we decided to share the first place between 4 performers, including Stefanel”, Traistariu added. The First Prize at this age category was awarded to a range of very successful performers, including Madalina Lefter, last year Eurovision Junior participant for Romania. The trophy of the Camena Festival was won by Andreea Olariu from Constanta, who will represent Romania in this year’s Eurovision Junior. Another Moldovan participant, Nicoleta Gavrilita, student at the Mircea Eliade Lyceum in Chisinau, won the second prize in the age category between 15 and 18, the special mass-media prize and a prize for originality.
