The Railways of Moldova (RM) will resume the railway link from Tighina and Tiraspol with Sankt Petersburg. Starting June 9, on the railway segment Tighina – Chisinau will be launched two wagons which will be daily drawn to and from Chisinau, where will be attached to the train which connects the capital of the Republic of Moldova with the northern capital of Russia. The counselor of the “Railways of Moldova” head, Anatol Tvetcov, declared for Info-Prim Neo that the authorities from RM examine at present the possibility to add one more wagon to those two, for ensuring the circulation to Moscow. The actions of RM come as result of requests of the citizens from the region of Tighina and Tiraspol towns, submitted to the authorities from Chisinau, to ensure the circulation of trains to Moscow and Sankt Petersburg, after the circulation via Tirapsol was halted in March 2006 along with blocking of the railway by the Transnistrian separatists. They replied in this way to the new customs regime on the Transnistrian segment, qualified by the separatists as a “economic blockade”. Until now, in order to take a train to Russian cities, the citizens from the regions of Tiraspol and Tighina towns were coming to Chisinau. From the moment the circulation of trains through Tiraspol was stopped, the Railways of Moldova created in the Mayoralty of Varnita village, special ticket desks were the passengers had the possibility to buy tickets. On June 5, 2006, RM resumed the transportation of passengers from the region of Tiraspol and Tighina towns to Moscow.
