The visit paid by Romanian President Traian Basescu to Chisinau reveals Romania’s commitment to Moldova and to the country’s European course. It is a confirmation of the unconditional support provided by the Romanian state during the over 20 years of independence, considers the executive director of the Foreign Policy Association Victor Chirila.
Contacted by IPN, Victor Chirila said that large-scale infrastructure projects started to be latterly implemented owing especially to the commitment of President Traian Basescu. A partnership based on definite projects was ultimately established. It will help Moldova to integrate not only in the economic market of Romania, but also of the EU.
Victor Chirila considers that Traian Basescu’s visit to Chisinau is an encouragement to all those who plead for Moldova’s European integration. It is also an encouragement to the Moldovan political elite to put this option into practice. This visit is definitely an impetus to continue the reforms and the actions required by the European integration agenda.
