Traian Basescu was congratulated by Moldovan carol singers

President of Romania, Traian Basescu was congratulated at the Cotroceni Palace on December 23by carol singers from Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria and Ukraine on the occasion of the winter holydays. According to a press release from the Romanian Presidency, Basescu thanked all the children for the carols and expressed cheerfulness for the fact that children from outside Romania came to visit him. “I see a great symbol in the fact that children from countries neighbouring Romania gather together. Dear children from Ukraine, Transnistria, Bulgaria and Vidin, I want you to know that you are always welcome in Romania”, President of Romania stated. Basescu said that the carols were not dedicated to the Romanian head of state in particular, but were good wishes to all the Romanians within or outside the country. The children from Moldova who congratulated the Romanian President were representatives of the Cultural Association “Transnistria”.
