Romania will remain Moldova’s partner in the European integration process without reserves. Moldova has no other alternative than the road to the EU, said the President of Romania Traian Basescu, IPN reports.

In a news conference in Chisinau, the Romanian head of state said the visit to Moldova is paid in a very important moment for Moldova’s future. “Moldova is preparing for the greatest success of the process to come closer and integrate into the EU that it launched enough years ago, namely the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU and the initialing of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement. This will happen at the Vilnius Eastern Partnership Summit of November 27-28,” stated Traian Basescu.

He also said that the approaching of this moment is the merit of the Moldovan people and politicians who believe in the European solution. “I do not want to speak about alternatives. I think that Moldova has no other alternative than the European road. In Moldova’s history, I found no other location for this land than in Europe,” underlined the President.

He assured that Romania will remain an advocate without reserves as regards Moldova’s European course and will respect the country’s military neutrality option. Romania never raised the issue of adopting another approach than the one Moldova has according to its Constitution.
