Romanian President Traian Basecu will have a tight schedule while he will be in Moldova on a visit during January 27-28, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Presidential Office.
Traian Basescu will arrive in Chisinau on January 27 in the morning. The official delegation that will accompany him will comprise: Minister of Administration and the Interior Vasile Blaga, Minister of Economy, Trade and Business Environment Adrian Videanu, Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor Baconski, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Radu Berceanu, Minister of Information Development and Tourism Elena Udrea, Minister of Justice Catalin Predoiu, Secretary of State for the relations with Romanians everywhere Eugen Tomac, Senator Viorel-Riceard Badea, MP Tudor Pantaru, the head of Iasi County District Constantin Simirad.
Initially, Traian Basescu will have a bilateral meeting with Moldova's Acting President Mihai Ghimpu at the Presidential Office. Later, he will take part in a joint meeting of the Moldovan and Romanian delegations. Afterward, Mihai Ghimpu and Traian Basescu will make statements for the press. The reporters will be allowed to put by two questions to each head of state.
The program of the visit also includes the ceremony to award the Order of the Republic to Traian Basescu, laying of flowers to the monument to Stephan the Great and the graves of poets Grigore Vieru and Ion Vatamanu, singers Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici, politicians Anton Crihan, Gheorghe Ghimpu and Nicolae Costin.
On the same day, the president of Romania will have meetings with Prime Minister Vladimir Filat Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, leaders and representatives of parliamentary groups – Maria Postoico, Mihai Godea, Ion Hadarca, Dumitru Diacov, Vasile Balan – and the leaders of the Alliance for European Integration – Mihai Ghimpu, Vladimir Filat, Marian Lupu, Serafim Urechean.
On January 28, Traian Basescu, accompanied by Mihai Ghimpu, will participate in a ceremony to lay wreaths at Romania's Lot of Honor at the cemetery in Cania village of Cantemir district, and at the Romanian Cemetery of Honor in Tiganca village of Cantemir district. Later, Mihai Ghimpu and Traian Basescu will travel to Cahul, where they will deliver speeches in front of students and lecturers of the State University “Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu” and will visit the future Romanian consulate in Cahul.
