A drug distribution network managed through Telegram was disbanded by the police and prosecutors. The criminal group that consisted of a man aged 26 and a woman aged 27 sold synthetic psychotropic substances like PVP (known as “salt”) through online shops, IPN reports, with reference to the General Police Inspectorate.
The seized drugs were estimated at about 1.2 million lei.
The drugs were brought to the Republic of Moldova from Ukraine by route buses, being hidden inside domestic appliances. One of the suspects every time accompanied the merchandise. If the drugs were found at the frontier post, the passenger informed the courier not to come after the parcel.
The suspects were arrested while they were at their temporary domicile in the municipality of Chisinau. They were preparing the drugs for being transmitted to dealers.
During four searches, the police seized over 2 kg of “salt”, cellphones, SIM cards used for registering digital wallets, computers, bank cards issuing in the names of other persons and other things. There were also confiscated the packs with drugs put in special places in Chisinau, which were to be sold to drug users.
The two suspects face 7 to 15 years in jail.
