The National Patrolling Inspectorate said that on June 11 and 12, while the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso will be in Chisinau, the people and vehicles will have limited access to the streets Nicolae Iorga, Maria Ceborari, Sfatul Tarii, and Alexandru cel Bun, to the Great National Assembly Square and to the area around the Parliament Building, the Government Building and the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac”, IPN reports.
Traffic restrictions will be placed temporarily, while the official delegation will be traveling, at the airport, on Dacia Blvd. on the viaduct, on the streets Sciusev, Mihai Viteazul, and Calea Orheiului, and on the road to Orhei, towards Chateau Vartely Orhei.
National Patrolling Inspectorate deputy chief Grigore Guzun in a press beefing said the police measures to maintain public order during the visit of the high-ranking European official started to be taken. At 6pm, the mentioned streets will be closed for traffic. The vehicles parked illegally will be towed away. “We call on the people and drivers to obey the instructions of the traffic police and be attentive to the sirens of the police cars,” he stated.
Jose Manuel Barroso will arrive at the Chisinau airport at about 6pm on June 11. He will be met by Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, without ceremonial. On June 12, Jose Manuel Barroso will be met with military honors at the State Residence, where he will have a meeting with Iurie Leanca. Afterward, the two officials will sign a set of documents and will give a joint news conference.
