The local councils will be able to impose bans and requirements concerning the cleanup and management of waste by traders who work on the territory of the local public authority. Parliament adopted provisions to this effect after giving them a final reading on November 8, IPN reports.

The legislative initiative provides that the traders will be obliged to manage the waste coming from trading acuity if the local council inserts relevant requirements in the regulations governing trading activity in the given locality, and to transport the given waste in accordance with the law on waste management.

The waste will be transported by the trader if this has a waste management authorization or by legal entities that have such an authorization and with which the trader signed a waste collection contract.

The new regulations will take effect in six months of their publication in the Official Gazette.
