The National Confederation of Trade Unions is concerned about the fielding of Ion Struza for the post of Prime Minister, knowing his position on trade unions. The Confederation makes reference to the period when Ion Sturza occupied this post and named then the trade unions ‘a brake on progress’, IPN reports.

According to the trade unions, in that short period during which Ion Sturza was Prime Minister, the Government, as the main social partner of the trade unions and employers at national level, avoided holding collective negotiations and examining the demands put forward by trade unionists. “The representatives of salary earners hadn’t been heard. The lack of interest in the social dialogue shown by the Sturza Government made this dialogue not to be respected even if it is regulated by EU Treaties and Conventions of the International Labor Organization,” it is said in a press release of the Confederation.

The National Confederation of Trade Unions considers it is not opportune to meet with the candidate for Prime Minister and will thus not take part in discussions on the Government’s plan of action.
