The trade unionists’ march of May 1 was rescheduled for June 7, when trade union members and activists celebrate the Trade Unionist’s Day, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova, a solidarity march was to take place on May 1, on the occasion of the International Workers’ Day. It was to involve about 5,000 people. The event was postponed because the political parties planned a series of marches on this day and there is a risk that the participants will resort to provocations.
On June 7, the trade union members and activists from Moldova will mark the Trade Unionist’s Day for the sixth consecutive year. This day was instituted after the Trade Unions Confederation of Moldova merged with the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Moldova “Solidaritate” on June 7, 2007.
