Moldova's trade deficit rose 53.6% in the first 9 months of 2007 as compared with the same period last year, reaching some $2.46 billion, Info-Prim Neo quotes data the National Statistics Bureau. The trade with the European Union had a deficit of $997.4 million in the first nine months, the trade with the CIS countries had a deficit of $808.4 million. From January to September, 2008, the exports totaled $1.2 billion, by 30.4% more than in the same period of 2007. The exports to the EU represent 51.9% of the total, while the exports to the CIS – 38.7%. In this period, the imports reached $3.6 billion, by 45.1% more than in the same period of 2007. The imports from the EU were 44.2% from the total, while the ones from the CIS – 34.7%.
