Tracom’s future will be decided in a month

The Government will take a decision as regards the future of the Chisinau-based tractor plan Tracom by September 1, Premier Vlad Filat said after visiting the factory on August 5. “We haven’t reached a decision yet, but agreed to set up a commission of experts that will formulate clear solutions. A decision will be made public by September 1,” the Prime Minister said. An analysis will be carried out to see if Tracom must be restructured or it should continue making tractors. The process will be coordinated by the Ministry of Economy, Vlad Filat said. The Premier also said that solutions will be identified to clear the salary arrears of the plant. In the meeting with Vlad Filat, the plant’s employees expressed their indignation at the fact that the factory isn’t working, asking him to hasten the adoption of a decision as regards its future. The term of the agreement to make tractors at the Chisinau plant reached by Tracom and the Minsk tractor factory expires in November.
