Tourist accommodation facilities saw more guests in 2022

Last year, tourist accommodation facilities received almost 334,000 guests, twice as much compared to the previous year. Of the total number, a little over half were domestic tourists and over 48% were non-residents.

The National Bureau of Statistics reports that in 2022, compared to the previous year, the number of non-resident guests in collective accommodation facilities increased by 93,200, or two and a half times. The number of domestic tourists increased by 62,500, or +57%.

The share of guests who chose accommodation facilities located in Chisinau constituted 66.2%. 18.9% of tourists stayed in the central region, 7.1% in the south, 6.5% in the north, and 1.3% in Gagauzia.

Most non-resident guests were citizens of Ukraine (46.8%), followed by Romania (16.4%), the United States (5.0%), the Russian Federation and Turkey (each 3.3%), Israel and the United Kingdom (each 2.1%), Germany and Italy (each 2.0%), France (1.5%), Poland (1%).

The average length of stay was five days: 6.4 days for domestic tourists and 3.6 days for non-residents.
