The Tourism Agency in 2014 intends to certify 20 tourist routes, according to the European standards. This is stipulated in the Tourism Development Strategy “Turism 2020”. The Agency’s director Nicolae Platon told a news conference that the certification will be one of the main mechanisms for developing tourism, IPN reports.

“If we want to develop the internal and inbound tourism, we must taker into account the road infrastructure,” said Nicolae Platon. In 2015-2016, there will be designed and certified another 10 tourist routes.

In the immediate future, the Tourism Agency aims to build up 20 forms of tourism that were defined in the strategy by three categories – 1. winemaking-winegrowing, rural, business, religious, and curative, which are now active forms; 2. cultural, gastronomic, social, sports, motor, urban, nostalgic, and ecological that will be promoted; 3. the tourism of the future - academic, naval, medical, and extreme.

As a result of stimulating the tourism activity, the number of tourists is expected to grow annually by 3% within the inbound tourism and by 4% within the internal tourism. A sum of 167.3 million lei is needed to implement the strategy. Money will be allocated from the National Regional Development Fund, the National Ecological Fund, the USAID project CEED II, crossborder cooperation projects and other sources.
