A tour of Romanian actors in Moldova will take place between April and September. It will include eight productions in theaters in Chisinau, Cahul and Bălți, with free admission. This is the first itinerant tour of the “I.L. Caragiale” National Theater from Bucharest in Republic of Moldova.
The first play presented in the project is "Figuranta". It will be played on April 28, 19:00, at the Nameless Theater in Chisinau. The play is an exceptional one-woman-show by Tania Popa, which tells the tragic-comic story of Ania, an aspiring actress whose life is divided between her stage career and the unfulfillments of her personal life.
Romanian critics appreciate the show as an emotional interpretation of a sensitive psychological theme, with explosive variations between pain, emotion, self-irony and comedy. Spectators will witness an hour of meditation and monologue on a troubled life of a young mother who has reached the abyss of disappointment and her struggle with life and poverty to fulfill her dreams and keep her hope for a better future.
The play was written by the actor Andreas Petrescu especially for Tania, who he describes as “a time bomb. A luxury time bomb. You never know when it will go off, and when it does, the reaction is strong, it sweeps everything around".
The “Tour of Romanian actors” project aims to bring the public from Moldova as close as possible to Romanian culture and language. It is financed by the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova (DRRM) and organized in partnership with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova.
