A girl aged 2 years and 10 months was airlifted by a Romanian emergency helicopter from Briceni to Chisinau after suffering second- and third-degree burns covering half of her body. She suffered the burns after falling into a pot full of an unnamed hot fluid.

During the airlift the girl was monitored by SMURD paramedics from Iasi. It took only 40 minutes to transport her to the Emilian Cotaga Hospital in Chisinau.

The Moldovan Civil Protection and Emergencies Service said this is the 30th airlift provided since the Romanian SMURD started operations in Moldova.

The Service is urging parents and guardians not to leave small children unattended and to keep them away from hazards.
