Today is Healthcare Workers’ Day in Moldova

On June 17, the healthcare workers in Moldova celebrate the Healthcare Workers’ and Pharmacists’ Day. The number of doctors, caregivers, nurses and pharmacists in Chisinau reaches about 8,000.
The municipal authorities have organised on this occasion, in the National Philharmonic House, a manifestation attended by medical professionals working in Chisinau, decision makers from the Municipal Health Division, and Minister of Health Ion Ababii.
According to the head of the Health Division, Iurie Bucinschi, the budgets of the medical establishments have been increased in the last few years, which made it possible to raise the wages for the healthcare workers, and to increase financing for treating the population, including money for medication, nourishment, consumables for diagnostic tests. At the same time, the birth rate is increasing and the death rate is decreasing in Chisinau.
For his part, Minister Ion Ababii underlined that the municipal medical establishments continue to be a model for other healthcare institutions in the country.
On the occasion of the Healthcare Workers’ and Pharmacists’ Day, a number of health professional received Government Diplomas, and 3 doctors were designated the title “Doctor of 2007”.
The Healthcare Workers’ Day was instituted by presidential decree in 1994.
