The further activity of the public officials at the Chisinau City Hall depends to a large extent on the quality of the activity reports to be submitted weekly as previously requested by General Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca. The mayor stated that he would stay firm as announced when starting his mandate, and namely, he would not act with dishonesty and fire public officials only because they served the previous apparatus of the City Hall. “I clearly stated that the emphasis would lay on how the work is done. I also outlined that I do not expect the public officials to only meet the responsibilities I give them, but each person should cover a larger range of activities. They should come with more initiatives, solve out problems casually and not wait for them to reach the mayor himself”, Chirtoaca says. According to him, “purging the people from the City Hall” would not have been right, as this would mean fewer activities, which is actually happening due to the change of administration and operating standards. It would also decrease the activities of preparing the Municipality for the winter period and would lower the quality of the public services. “I have been constantly passing on these messages lately and now I get the reactions. I requested that assessment reports on the activity of each department be submitted weekly, and getting this information would allow me to decide on the people to further work in the City Hall and on the way they should operate, as well as on the people to leave”, Chirtoaca mentioned. According to him, the procedure is in compliance with the Labour Code and the Law on Public Service. The fate of the public officials will be also decided by examining what he called “unlucky cases” that will be discovered meanwhile by the present administration. “We will see who, how and why took part in making such decisions or in tergiversating others, and in this case, we will have more evidence to sanction somebody”, Dorin Chirtoaca also stated, being cited by Info-Prim Neo.
