The new Government that will be formed in Chisinau must be a very responsible one given that the situation in Moldova and outside it became very tense, ex-foreign affairs minister of Romania Titus Corlatean said in the talk show “European Horizon” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

Corlatean called on the Moldovan politicians to assume increased responsibility for the implementation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement. “Any decision with a major impact must be respected. If you undertake the European integration, you must observe the European principles and do reforms in accordance with the European standards. European identification does not mean signing particular documents. It means assuming responsibilities that must be fulfilled and respecting European values. Otherwise, only God knows what can happen,” said the Romanian senator.

He urged the Moldovan politicians to learn from Romania’s experience concerning the implementation of reforms. “Romania achieved results in implementing the reforms asked by the EU, namely in fighting organized crime, reforming the justice system, rooting out corruption, ensuring the integrity of functionaries. We have good laws in this respect. It is a reformation variant that Moldova can implement successfully,” stated Corlatean.

He noted that Moldova already gained benefits from the Associating Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with the EU, even if these haven’t been yet ratified by a number of EU member states. “Many Moldovan agricultural producers managed to export to the European market. It wouldn’t be right for Moldova not to take the chances provided by these accords,” he said.
