Transnistria expects that the round of 5+2 negotiations which starts today in Vienna will help to improve living conditions of people on both sides of the Nistru and consolidate trust among the sides, the Tiraspol administration said on its official website. “The involvement of the international community in the negotiations, through the representatives of Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE, will play a decisive role in the settlement of the frequent contradictions”, said the Tiraspol administration. Tiraspol's chief negotiator Nina Shtanski will bring up for discussions the issue of foreign trade of the businesses located in the Transnistrian region. Another pressing issue is the banking sector. Further, Tiraspol will tackle issues related to the free movement of people and the problem of education. The Tiraspol administration noted that the resumption of passenger train services on the routes to Moscow and St. Petersburg via Transnistria is still an unresolved issue. Another priority is the issuance of permits for the Transnistrian carriers. The administration of the Transnistrian region has asserted that it will be difficult to solve legal and humanitarian issues in the relationship with Chisinau unless “palpable solutions” are identified. The negotiations that start today will last until tomorrow, September 13.
