The Moldovan delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) has informed that Tiraspol decided to unilaterally establish police posts in the Security Zone. The representatives of Chisinau in the JCC insist on ensuring international monitoring in the Security Zone, IPN reports.

According to a statement from the Moldovan delegation to the JCC, Tiraspol misunderstood the purpose of the six field offices of the Migration and Asylum Bureau that are to be set up along the Nistru River as Chisinau does not intend to institute border control. The Transnistrian side also misleads the public and speculates on the building by the constitutional authorities of bus stations in settlements located near the Security Zone.

The Moldovan delegation informed that in October Tiraspol unilaterally set up two police posts at the barrage of the Hydroelectric Plant in Dubasari and near Slobozia village. The Transnistrian side denies the existence of such a post in the Slobozia, but when members of the Moldovan delegation visited it in October, they had been detained there for several hours.

According to the Moldovan authorities, such unilateral acts lead to higher tensions in the region and to the undermining of the peacekeeping mechanisms. The Moldovan delegation reiterates the necessity of instituting an international monitoring and inspection mission in the Security Zone.
