An “invitation to dialog” sent on August 15 by the Transnistrian de facto leader Vadim Krasnoseliski to the Moldovan President Maia Sandu has been left unanswered so far, according to the local press.

Transistria’s chief negotiator Vitali Ignatiev stated that a number of issues can only be solved at the negotiating table. “We need to address a number of problems that, sadly, have been piling up because of the inability of the Moldovan side to negotiate. New barriers are being created for both businesses and citizens of Transnistria. There are pressing social and humanitarian problems”, Ignatiev was quoted by the local press as saying.

In his invitation, Vadim Krasnoseliski noted that six months have passed since his previous attempt, which was left unanswered as well. According to him, this creates the impression that Chisinau “does not regard Transnistria as a good neighbor”.

Presidential spokesperson Sorina Ștefârță was not immediately available when sought by IPN for a comment. Later she confirmed such a letter had been received, adding that it was being examined.
