Tiraspol invests money in food security measures

The authorities in Tiraspol plan to allocate over 60 million Transnistrian rubles (82.1 million lei) for implementing food security measures in the region. About 30-35 million rubles will be allotted from the budget of the breakaway republic, while 25-30 million rubles – from the reserve fund. The program covers the period between 2011-2015, Info-Prim Neo's correspondent in Tiraspol reports. There will be implemented over 25 measures in such areas as lending, social and fiscal policy, agriculture. A pilot program to support the enterprises working in the agroindustrial sector is now under implementation.12.5 million Transnistrian rubles (17.1 million lei) have been earmarked for this program. Transnistria's deputy minister of economy Alevtina Slincenko said that the program has the following objectives: to rise vegetable production 2.5-3 times and milk and meat production - 3-4 times, which is 60% of the needs. Today, the Transnistrian farmers meet about 20% of the region's needs.
