More and more Tiraspol residents abandon their pets, endangering thus the sanitary situation in the town, the local sanitary authorities warn. Senior epizootologist Svetoslav Nikolaev said that a document that would coordinate the related activities of the veterinary institutions and the police is badly needed, Info-Prim-Neo’s correspondent in Tiraspol reports. Veterinarians suggest issuing passports for animals and tattooing a registration number on the animals’ skin. According to them, this will enable to hold the irresponsible owners accountable. Last year, 40% of the bitten Tiraspol residents that appealed to the doctor for help said they were attacked by stray dogs.
