The Transnistrian administration removed the provisions concerning the statute of limitations for murder from its so-called criminal code, IPN reports.
According to “Novy Reghion” Agency, the region’s Supreme Soviet opposed that this law should have a retroactive effect, as the Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk proposed. The changes will take effect in two weeks after they are published.
Moldova’s Criminal Code provides that the statute of limitations for exceptionally serious offenses is 25 years. This means that after 25 years of the commission of the offense, the person cannot be held accountable.
