Tiraspol said that two of the four persons arrested on October 7 “for the commission of a series of offences” on the Transnistrian territory were set free. In a press release, the de facto ministry of foreign affairs said some of the Moldovan political forces tried to speculate on the situation for electoral purposes. “As it is well-known, Transnistria’s position is that it should not become involved in the internal political processes of the neighboring state,” runs the press release that is quoted by IPN.

“A telephone conversation took place today between the Presidents of the Moldovan Nistrean Republic and the Republic of Moldova. The interlocutors confirmed the adherence to the principles of the constructive dialogue and humanity. Responding to the Moldovan side’s request, the law enforcement bodies of Transnistria refrained from taking the preventive measure in the form of arrest against the representatives of the police force of Moldova and these were set free,” said the press release.

The released persons are Andrei Amarfi and Adrian Glijin.

Following the seizure of these persons in Camenca on October 7, the Prosecutor General’s Office started a criminal case started over kidnapping of a person and usurpation of the official position by employees of the security forces of the self-proclaimed Transnistrian republic. The case was transmitted to the Prosecutor’s Office to Organized Crime and Special Cases.
