The Transnistrian administration says the ditch of 8 km that was dug near the villages Dorotskaya and Pohrebea of Dubasari district is an anti-fire measure. Deputy Prime Minister Eugen Carpov told a news conference that the given argument has nothing to do with the reality, while Tiraspol acted unilaterally and uncoordinatedly in the Security Zone, IPN reports.

Eugen Carpov said that two EU experts in recognition of studies will be in Chisinau between July 2 and July 10. They will formulate recommendations as to the recognition of the diplomas issued by the education institutions from both banks of the Nistru River.

In the same news conference, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process Ambassador Radojko Bogojević expressed his concern about the decision of the two parties of the negotiation process – Russia and the Transnistrian administration – to postpone the next round of the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format, set for July, until September. He said that he doesn’t understand this decision, but voiced hope that at least two more rounds of talks will take place by this yearend.

Radojko Bogojević also said that the problem of the Moldovan-administered Latin-script schools in Transnistria remains acute and the two sides should reach a compromise by the start of the new school year so as not to affect the education process. He added that he discussed the benefits of the Association Agreement for the Transnistrian economic entities with Tiraspol’s key negotiator Nina Shtanski and urged the self-styled authorities not to isolate themselves from this process so as to be able to benefit from this accord’s advantages.
