The timeframe during which the candidate for premiership is to be put forward must be a reasonable one and must be used sensibly, the president of the Constitutional Court Alexandru Tanase said in a TV program, quoted by IPN.
Alexandru Tanase said that the Constitution does not clearly stipulate a deadline by which a candidate for the post of Prime Minister must fie fielded, but there is a reasonable timeframe necessary for certain technical procedures. The timeframe in the case of the election of the head of state was extended exaggeratedly and such a situation should not repeat. The dismissed Cabinet must work further, but the term must be as short as possible.
“The Government now cannot work at maximum capacity as it is acting. It only manages the internal affairs. Such a situation cannot be perpetuated for a year or a half. If the crisis is not solved, the head of state must start to dissolve Parliament,” said the judge.
In the same connection, the head of Radio Free Europe in Chisinau Vasile Botnaru said the coming of the new Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola not sooner than this autumn must be a reason for concern for the authorities. According to him, the EU will not send the new official to Chisinau until the political situation is unstable.
