Three women lost their lives in traffic accidents in different settlements in Moldova on December 25. One of the women was crossing the street legally. The same day, a teenage boy was admitted to the hospital in a serious state after he was struck by a car, IPN reports.
According to the National Patrol Inspectorate, a 64-year-old woman was struck by a car in a crosswalk on the R-6 road in Ciocâlteni village of Orhei district. On the Bălți-Florești road near Biruința town, a car fatally hit a woman aged 41. Another woman aged 47 died after she was struck by a man driving under the influence of alcohol in Iezărenii Vechi village of Sângerei district.
The 12-year-old boy from Edineț district, who was hospitalized in Briceni, was walking by the roadside together with another two minors when he was hit by a car driven by an inebriated man who was speeding.
The over 2,300 accidents that happened on the national roads so far this year resulted in over 230 deaths and thousands of people injured. Among the most often causes of these accidents were speeding, non-giving of way and driving under the influence.
