Three Technical University students awarded by Ericsson

Three students from the Technical University of Moldova were awarded by Ericsson Company. Ericsson awards for Excellency in Telecommunications 2007 were handed out by the head of Ericsson-Moldova, Ion Casian on Friday, June 29 within the session of Broadband, Multimedia presentations and other solutions of Ericsson Company. The awards were offered to the students specialised in Informational technologies from the Faculty of computers, informatics and microelectronics: Valentin Jardan, Vladimir Iachimovici and Alexandru Vrabie. The awards have a value of EUR 200. The awardees were promised to be employed after graduation by Ericsson Moldova and Romania representative offices. Communication Manager of Ericsson Romania, Moldova and Bulgaria Elena Constantinescu mentioned that due to the necessity of continuous development, the company invests many resources in research and development. “We value very much all creative and original ideas and that is why we decided to create the awards for the universities”. The conditions of the contest are that the subject of the final paper works is relevant and original and that the participants have scientific publications. The Excellency Awards in Telecommunications is an annual event. The best works of the students are selected by a committee of teachers, after the campaign was beforehand announcing the rules for the participation in the contest. The students eligible for the Ericsson contest are those who attend the last year of study or those applying for Master’s degree or other postgraduate studies. The awards for the students of the last years of study amount to EUR 200, and for the candidates of Master’s Degree – EUR 500. This year, the postgraduate candidates did not participate in the contest. The first Ericsson Awards Ceremony in Moldova took place in 2006. Similar awards are awarded in Romania since 2005, the contest being launched 10 years ago in Greece.
