Three suspects arrested after Briceni robbery, including Georgian criminal

A minor and a young man from Moldova and also a Georgian thief-in-law broke into the house of an inhabitant of Briceni district at night. Armed with a hunting rifle, the three suspects forced the entrance door, beat the owner aged 37 and then stole 15,000 lei, IPN reports, quoting the General Police Inspectorate

The victim’s sister alerted the police. Shortly afterward, the three suspects were arrested. These are a man aged 28 who was earlier tried for different offenses, a minor aged 17, both from Trebisăuți village of Briceni district, and a 44-year-old Georgian citizen who was earlier convicted of a number of crimes in his country. The Georgian thief-in-law came to Moldovan seven days ago.

The police found clothes that allegedly belong to one of the suspects and in which this was dressed when the offense was committed and an unidentified 12 caliber cartridge rifle.

The police started a criminal case based on Article 188, paragraph 2 of the Penal Code of the Republic of Moldova. The suspects were remanded in custody for 72 hours. Robbery carries a jail term of six to 15 years.
